LT Model – Low Tension Irrometers

Trustpilot
SKU: IRR Model LT

Price range: $58.00 through $105.00

The IRROMETER Model “LT” (low tension) – is designed for situations where tensions above 30 cb (kPa) are rarely expected.

The LT Model is ideal for very coarse soils and non-soil container-media or where rapidly changing soil water status needs to be observed.

The Model LT IRROMETER was designed to effectively measure the very wet end of the soil.

The Model “LT” or Low Tension Irrometer incorporates a replaceable Quick-Flo tip, and a sealed vacuum gauge which has a full scale of 0-40 cbar. Designed for situations where tensions above 30 cbar are rarely expected.

Measuring soil moisture allows a grower to make informed irrigation scheduling decisions!  These improve yields and quality because of reduced costs in water, fertilizer, labor, and energy. LT Irromter’s are designed to operate in conditions where tensions above 30 cb (kPa) are not expected.   Some examples include applications like an avocado orchard on rocky hillsides, citrus in sandy Florida soils, or greenhouses with potting or non-soil growing media.

The Low Tension Irrometer is unique in the way it measures soil moisture because it has a porous ceramic tip. As soil dries, it tries to pull water out of the instrument, creating vacuum measured by the gauge. This is a direct, physical measurement of the same tension plant roots experience, requiring no electronics, batteries, or calibrations to operate.

How do you read the results of your Irrometer?

One Service Unit is required to make the Irrometers work correctly. (One Service Unit is sufficient for multiple Irrometers.)  LT Models use the SU1001 or SU1000.

Why invest in an Irrometer?

Irrometer tensiometers are trusted because they have been on the market since 1951.  They are proven by decades of commercial usage and field research, trusted enough to serve as the calibration standard for other sensors.
